The purpose

To build a unique client portal, providing intuitive collaborative service and budgeting tools to people with disabilities and their care managers.

Strategy

With the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) reform in mind and FaHCSIA backing, LaTrobe Community Health Services briefed Salsa on a unique client portal, providing intuitive collaborative service and budgeting tools to people with disabilities and their care managers. Salsa met the funding requirements by developing functionality that achieved the needs of all three sponsored bodies: LCHS, SASI and MELBA.

Salsa then ran a series of workshops with the stakeholders and visionaries to develop a spec which encapsulated the suite of functionality required to truly make life easier for people with disabilities and their care managers.

Design

Given the audience and purpose of the site, usability was a critical success factor for the project, and Salsa's creative team went to town carving a user interface that ticked all of the boxes. Accessibility was also an important consideration, and so you'll see various features such as text resizing and screen reader functionality.

Engineering

Salsa elected to build the site using the Drupal platform for its ease of use, and also strong W3C accessibility capabilities.

The end result was a sophisticated service booking, budgeting and communication portal that adhered to design and functional standards that accommodated the aged, physically and mentally handicapped
